The football season was a day closer.
Once the clock struck midnight, Mexico football played its annual midnight intrasquad scrimmage in the opening minutes of Saturday at Hawthorne Heights at Mexico High School. The Bulldogs were out on the field running plays for an hour.
Mexico opens the season at 7 p.m. Aug. 29 at Centralia. The week prior, the Bulldogs play a preseason jamboree in Monroe City against Monroe City, Van-Far and Scotland County.
