Mexico boys soccer started the season in a memorable way.

The Bulldogs defeated Eugene 10-0 after one half on Thursday at Chris Hotop Field in Mexico to mercy rule the Eagles in Eugene's first game as a program. Mexico had three players score hat tricks for the first time in head coach Bill Gleeson's tenure (about eight years), won via mercy rule for the first time since 2019 in an 8-0 win over Fulton and scored double-digit goals for the first time since 2017 in a 10-0 win over Fulton. Alex Rodriguez secured his hat trick after two goals in the 20th minute, Brixton Goerne netted his hat trick a minute later and Uriel Jarquin scored his third straight goal for a hat trick in the 37th minute.

"This group is a really good group," Gleeson said. "They play well together. They did a really good job of passing the ball around, sending it up to people and going. I'm really proud of these guys."

After winning its third straight home opener, Mexico hosts Elsberry with Silex at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
