The Freedom of the Road Riders Local 13 in Mexico invaded the Tractor Supply parking lot May 17 for its annual car show and cruise.
“It went fantastic today,” said activities director Kassy Polston. “We had 44 cars registered and we had several people show up and just donate.”
All the money raised from the Car Show and Cruise goes directly to The Help Center of Mexico to support adopted children as well as those in foster care.
“Every bit of money we raise all year long goes all to the program,” said Polston.
Brian Pursifull, who had been a paid guest speaker at the event, refused to accept payment and instead donated it to the Central Missouri Veterans Monument Foundation, whose members were also there to support the Freedom of the Road Riders and inform the crowd about their project.
When the car show was over, everyone joined the convoy, escorted by the Mexico Public Safety Department. They cruised to the Missouri Veterans Home so the veterans could see all the beautiful cars, Polston said.
