Centralia, Paris with medals at state track Day 1

Centralia, Paris, Community R-6 and Van-Far were all among the sea of schools at the Class 1, 2 and 3 MSHSAA Track and Field Championships.

The first day of events at Adkins Stadium in Jefferson City including Centralia and Paris earning medals. Claire Brinkman earned her first career state medal after finishing in a four-way tie for seventh place in the Class 3 girls high jump, reaching a height of 1.5 meters, and Cora King finished eighth to medal for the first time in her career with a throw of 10.68 meters. Landen Chapman finished third in the Class 1 boys 3,200-meter run with a time of 10:18.11 for his first career individual state track medal.

Centralia had several advance out of the preliminaries to finals on Saturday. Beau Hatton had the top qualifying time of 14.82 in the Class 3 boys 110-meter hurdles, Ryenn Gordon had the fourth-best qualifying and school-record time of 15.25 in the Class 3 girls 100-meter hurdles, Cayden Dunn had the fifth-best qualifying time of 40.33 in the Class 3 boys 300-meter hurdles, Shelby Lewis advanced to finals in the both the Class 3 girls 400- and 200-meter dashes with a fourth-best qualifying time of 58.80 in the 400 and fourth-best qualifying and school-record time of 25.76 in the 200, the Class 3 girls 4x200-meter relay team of Gordon, Kaelyn Walters, Becca Erisman and Lewis had the fifth-best qualifying and school-record time of 1:46.51, and the Class 3 girls 4x400-meter relay team of Gordon, Olivia Adams, Erisman and Lewis had the sixth-best qualifying time of 4:10.34. 

Josh Russell finished 12th in the Class 3 boys discus with a throw of 41.06, and the Class 3 boys 4x800-meter relay team of Eli Hill, Dryst Bostick, Wesley Robertson and Rohan Holiman finished 8:13.72.

For Paris, Colton Kendrick finished 10th in the Class 1 boys pole vault with a height of 3.4 meters, the Class 1 boys 4x800-meter relay team of Owen Buie, Hayden DeOrnellas, Logan Mitchell and Chapman finished 10th with a time of 8:54.53, Ava Crain finished 14th in the Class 1 girls 400-meter dash with a school-record time of 1:03.70, Sophia Crusha finished ninth in the Class 1 girls 800-meter run with a school-record time of 2:29.65, and the Class 1 girls 4x400-meter relay team of Crusha, Khloee Hendren, Kaylee Johnson and Crain finished 12th with a time of 4:28.88.

For Community R-6, the Class 1 boys 4x100-meter relay team of Lane Carter, Mason Carroll, Caden Thomas and Aaron Carter finished 14th with a school-record time of 47.54 (third time in three weeks they broke the school record), the same four finished 12th in the Class 1 boys 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1:39.48, and Alyssa Beamer finished 16th in the Class 1 girls 800-meter run with a time of 2:52.38.

For Van-Far, Gaven Gaston finished 11th in the Class 2 boys 100-meter dash with a personal-best time of 11.32, and McKenna Engh-Hoffman finished 14th in the Class 2 girls javelin with a throw of 28.75 meters.
