Centralia girls win Paris Scramble tournament titles
The Centralia girls had the best duos on Wednesday.
Out of 16 schools competing, the Lady Panthers won the Paris Scramble Tournament title with a score of 164, being led by the pair of Bailey Pace and Tess Stephens that won that championship. Pace and Stephens combined for a score of 76.
Kyla Spickert and Jace Brown had Centralia’s next best duo score of 88, and Olivia Morris and Cami Moser shot a 93.
For Paris, Riley McKinney and Miranda Billings had the school’s best score of 104, and Gracie Henry and Maura Crusha had a 119.
Lady Panthers scratch across 5-4 win vs Moberly
Moberly displayed some power against Centralia on Wednesday night, but the Lady Panthers did just enough.
Centralia scored two deciding runs to break a tie at 3 in the fourth inning and defeat district foe Moberly 5-4 at home. Wirth two outs, Madi Johnson drew a bases-loaded walk and then Ellie Page hit a sacrifice fly.
The Lady Spartans (2-3) jumped ahead in the first inning with three RBI hits — two of them being doubles — to take a 3-0 lead.
Cora King came through twice for Centralia (6-4) to tie the game, finishing 2-for-3 with two RBI. Kaylie Ensor finished 2-for-3 with a double.
Kaelyn Walters only allowed one more run via a home run to Chloe Ferguson, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Walters posted a seven-inning line of eight hits, seven strikeouts, four runs and two walks.
Centralia faces another district foe Boonville (2-4) at 5 p.m. Monday.
