Centralia track and field continued another year of dominance at Monday’s Clarence Cannon Conference meet in Monroe City.
The Panthers and Lady Panthers each won their respective conference championships with 185 points and 174 points, respectively, besting the Clark County boys’ 174 points and the Palmyra girls’ 120 points. The girls won their ninth straight conference title, and the boys are back-to-back champions.
Centralia had several conference champions, including Kaelyn Walters in the girls long jump with a mark of 5.10 meters, Logan Rosenfelder in the boys long jump with a mark of 6.25 meters and the boys triple jump with a mark of 12.43 meters, Josh Russell in the boys discus with a throw of 44.53 meters, the boys 4x800 relay team with a time of 8:21.95, Cayden Dunn in the boys 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.10 and the 300 hurdles with a time of 42.59, the boys 4x200 relay team with a time of 1:33.69 (beating Clark County’s 1:34.92), Kenedee Moss in the girls 1600-meter run with a time of 5:33.14 and the 3200 with a time of 12:42.58, Rohan Holiman in the boys 1600 with a time of 4:37.41, Elijah Hill in the boys 800-meter run with a time of 2:07.89 (beating teammate Holiman’s 2:07.93), Shelby Lewis in the girls 200 with a time of 26.91, and the girls 4x400 relay team with a time of 4:13.68.
All-conference athletes needed to finish in the top three of individual events and the top two in relay events. Those marks from the Centralia boys meeting this requirement were Jacob Beard’s third-place 3.80 meters in the pole vault, Beau Hatton’s second-place 1.95 meters in the high jump, Dryst Bostick’s second-place 44.58 meters in the javelin and third-place 4:49.42 in the 1600, Peyson Bryson’s second-place 54.06 in the 400, Holiman’s second place in the 800, and Wesley Robertson’s second-place 10:16.90 and Bostick’s third-place 10:35.66 in the 3200.
All-conference finishes by the Centralia girls include Claire Brinkman’s second-place 1.55 meters in the high jump, Becca Erisman’s third-place 4.73 meters in the long jump, Kassena Ridgel’s third-place 34.79 meters in the discus, Harper Forshee’s second-place 37.55 meters in the javelin (breaking her previous school record of 36.95 meters), Ryenn Gordon’s second-place 16.57 in the 100 hurdles, Walter’s second-place 13.19 in the 100, the second-place 1:49.49 of the 4x200 relay team, Lewis’ second-place 1:00.13 in the 400 and Moss’ second-place 2:31.72 in the 800.
