Landen Chapman and Mairyn Kinnaman continued their streaks on Friday.
The streaks that involve each Paris runner earning a state cross country medal grew to three years for Kinnaman and two years for Chapman as the juniors led their teams at the Class 1 MSHSAA Cross Country Championships at Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia. Chapman finished second with a time of 16:25.7 in the boys 5K for the school's best ever state finish, and Kinnaman was 20th in the girls 5K with a time of 21:29.
Chapman beat McCauley Catholic's Michael Parrigon by a tenth of a second (16:25.8) after overtaking him on the last step across the finish line. In the Coyotes' second straight team appearance at state, their other results were, Severeno Olivas in 94th out of 173 runners with a 19.22, Hayden DeOrnellas in 95th with a 19.25, Owen Buie in 115th with a 19.59, Trevor Burch in 132nd with a 20.26, Michael Rosson in 140th with a 20.41, and David Wilson in 163rd with a 21.42. Paris finished ninth out of 16 teams with 231 points.
Kinnaman stayed in all-state medal position (top 30) for the entire race. In the Lady Coyotes' second straight state team appearance, their other results included Kaylee Johnson in 62nd out of 153 runners with a time of 23.41, Ava Crain in 63rd with a 23.43, Mia Kendrick in 101st with a 24.44, Midori Williams in 102nd with a 24.45, and MacKenzie Fryman in 136th with a 26.46. Paris finished seventh out of 13 teams with 159 points.
