Paris held an advantage near the end of the first half on Friday night during the Class 1 District 8 8-man football championship game in Shelbyville.

The problem is host North Shelby had time to take a 30-20 lead before halftime and eventually defeat the Coyotes 58-26. Paris (7-4) had its first winning football season since 2015's 7-5 record as an 11-man program, losing to South Shelby in the district title game that year. North Shelby (7-4) went on a 42-6 run after senior Gatlin Fountain ran in a seven-yard touchdown to give Paris a 20-16 lead with 2:50 left in the half. The Raiders put the ball in the end zone twice before halftime and ultimately took advantage of four failed fourth downs (two at midfield) by Paris in the game by scoring four touchdowns. Luke Ensor threw three touchdown passes: 38 yards to Brad Skinner, 37 yards to Payden Crain and 19 yards to senior Cole Dowell.
