CALLAWAY– On Feb. 12, Highway Patrol Troop F responded to a single-vehicle accident on the US 54 eastbound exit ramp to Simon Blvd.
The 1998 Ford Explorer driven by a 29-year-old man from Holts Summit, slid off the road, struck a tree and overturned. In the vehicle were two female occupants, an infant less than one-year-old and a three-year-old.
The three-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene by firefighter Thomas Stancy at 7:15 a.m. and transferred to Boone County Medical Examiner's Office by Maupins Funeral Home. The infant and driver were both transported to Capital Region Medical Center in Callaway County.
