Don Olin Mason, 84, of Mexico, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2026, at the Missouri Veterans Home.

Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 15, at Arnold Funeral Home, with Rev. Chris Atkinson officiating. Military honors will follow at the funeral home. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services.

Private burial will be held in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Paris.

Don was born on September 12, 1941, at the Mason Farm home in Paris, the son of D. Powers and Hazel (Freeman) Mason. He graduated from Paris High School in 1959 and later attended Moberly Junior College. Don proudly served in the United States Army from 1964 to 1966. On December 11, 1971, in Mexico, he married Vicki Mae Oliver.

Don spent 30 years working in sales and marketing for A.P. Green. He later worked at Pearl Motor Company before retiring. After retirement, he continued to stay busy by driving a bus for Mexico Public Schools.

An avid golfer, Don also enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially fly fishing. He generously gave his time as a volunteer with the American Red Cross for 15 years. He was talented musically and played the banjo, and he also enjoyed painting with watercolors. Don was a member of Centralia American Legion Post 113.

Don was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, where he served as a Sunday school teacher.

Don will be remembered for his many interests, his willingness to stay active and involved, and the time he devoted to helping others. He found enjoyment in the outdoors, creative pursuits, and spending time with those around him.

Survivors include his wife, Vicki Mason of the home; four children, Randy (Ondie) Clark of Centralia, Robin (Joe) Polston of Mexico, Eric (Chrissie) Mason of Cedar Hill, and Amy (Tom) Smith of St. Charles; nine grandchildren, Alyson Clark, Eladio Clark, Jennifer Stuart (Daniel Norman), Ashley Williams (Brian Grote), Lindsay Polston (Shane Jackson), Jacob Mason, Wade Mason, Tessa Smith (Alex Schuering), and Katelyn Smith; and three great-grandchildren, Linn (Austin) Huddleston, Matthew Stuart, and Emma Jackson.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Powers and Hazel Mason; a granddaughter, Madelyn Clark, who passed away in 2009; two brothers, Charles Mason and Dean Mason; and a sister, Twyla Mae Mason.
