Donald Hale Workes, 91, of Osage Beach, MO passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at Arrowhead Senior Living in Osage Beach, MO.   

Donald was born on April 18, 1935, in Mexico, MO the son of Robert and Irene (Avery) Workes who preceded him in death. He was united in marriage in 1955 to Patricia (Ernst) Workes who preceded him in death on August 28, 2019.  

Don graduated from Mexico High School in Mexico, MO, in 1953 and soon began a career that would define much of his life. He learned the electrical trade while working for Narco in Farber, MO, where he developed the skills, work ethic, and determination that would serve him throughout his professional journey.

His dedication to the electrical industry led him to own and operate Midwest Electric in Osage Beach, MO. Through years of hard work and commitment to his customers and community, he built a respected business and enjoyed a successful career as an electrician and business owner. He remained active in the profession until his retirement in 2004.

Don was best known for his sense of humor. A natural jokester and prankster, he loved making people laugh and was always ready with a playful joke or witty remark. His fun-loving personality made him a favorite among family, friends, and coworkers alike. Throughout his life, he enjoyed a variety of hobbies and interests. As a young man, he played baseball and spent many enjoyable days quail hunting around Farber. Later, he developed a passion for golf and he also loved dancing and singing karaoke, rarely passing up an opportunity to sing a favorite song or take to the dance floor. Don could also be found watching his favorite television show, Gunsmoke. The classic western remained a longtime favorite and brought him countless hours of enjoyment.

Above all else, he cherished his family. One of the greatest joys of his life was watching his grandchildren grow up. Whether attending their activities, sharing stories, offering encouragement, or simply spending time together, he treasured every moment and took immense pride in the people they became.

Survivors include: two daughters, Lynne Baker (Greg) and Debbie Nolan (Rodney); his significant other, Corky Greene; three grandchildren, Nick Hammett (Rebekah), Holly Sorm (Sok) and Ryan Nolan and four great-grandchildren, Cole, Lauren, Camryn and Andon.  He was also preceded in death by one brother and one sister.  

Gathering of friends will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026 from 4:00 pm–6:00 pm at  Hedges-Scott-Millard Funeral Homes in Osage Beach, MO.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
