An Eldon man was arrested on suspicion of stealing copper by Mexico Public Safety after a brief chase on foot Friday afternoon.
According to a department report, Nicholas R. Atkinson, 34, was spotted on railroad property near Martin Luther King Park. When an officer approached, around 12:30pm, Atkinson allegedly took off running. He was caught after a four block chase and taken into custody without injury.
Authorities allege that Atkinson had attempted to steal copper from property near the park. He is being held in Audrain County Jail facing charges of second degree burglary, trespassing and resisting arrest.
