Erdel, Owings, Tanzey & Newton is pleased to announce that Judge Jason Lamb joins the firm, bringing 25 years of legal experience from both sides of the bench. He will be engaged in general trial practice, crime victim representation, mediation, and special master work.
Judge Lamb’s career spans roles as Missouri’s youngest elected prosecutor, Executive Director of the Missouri Association of Prosecuting Attorneys, and Circuit Judge for Audrain, Montgomery, and Warren Counties. Throughout his tenure on the bench, he championed improvements in responses to behavioral health and co-occurring substance abuse disorders, led statewide enhancements to pre-trial release judicial decision-making, and was routinely tapped by his judicial colleagues for organizational leadership.
“Jason Lamb’s name has been trusted time and again locally and throughout the state. That is why we are putting it on our letterhead,” said Dan Erdel, firm Co-Founder and Partner. “We are excited to offer the opportunity for clients, lawyers and judges to continue to trust his judgment and advice.”
“My career of seeking justice and improving the administration of justice started with the lessons I learned in the everyday practice of law in my hometown,” said Lamb. “Returning to my roots allows me to pay forward the knowledge and experience I have gained over a quarter-century by helping people as a strong advocate and counselor for those in need of justice.”
Lamb led crucial initiatives including the revision of Missouri’s Criminal Code and strengthening crime victim restitution programs. He taught trial advocacy skills for Missouri prosecutors and served on the faculty at the National Advocacy Center in Columbia, SC. He also served as President of the National Association of Prosecutor Coordinators. Lamb was recognized by the Missouri Department of Public Safety for his career work to protect the rights of crime victims.
During his tenure as Audrain County Prosecuting Attorney, Lamb pioneered several innovative programs, including helping to lead the founding of a successful Treatment Court program, ushering in the use of Multi-Disciplinary Teams in child abuse investigations and organizing a coordinated community response to domestic violence. Lamb was twice named Prosecutor of the Year, by both Mothers Against Drunk Driving and the International Association of Arson Investigators.
Lamb began his legal career in Mexico with the Seigfreid Law Firm after serving as a law clerk at the Supreme Court of Missouri. In addition to his trial experience, he has briefed and argued cases in front of the Missouri Court of Appeals and Supreme Court of Missouri. Lamb is also a Senior Consultant and Faculty Member with Vera Causa Group, a leading organizational consulting, leadership, communications and training firm specializing in prosecutors, law enforcement and various government agencies nationwide. He is also trained as a mediator for civil cases in Missouri.
