Fight The New Drug announces national speaker for special web presentation

Posted

Missouri Military Academy and Audrain County service agencies will host an additional Fight the New Drug presentation for free on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. with an online forum and presentation.

Fight the New Drug offered two live presentations Feb. 10 and 11 at Missouri Military Academy, bringing nationally recognized, research-based education to campus and the community.

The presentation aims to help students understand how pornography can affect the brain, relationships and decision-making, while also building skills for healthy digital habits and respectful, sustainable relationships, according to a news release by Prosecuting Attorney Jacob Shellabarger.

The session will provide science-backed insight and practical tools for navigating conversations around pornography, digital literacy, sexual health and exploitation awareness.

Attendees must pre-register to save a place at the webinar and can do so through the website, https://live.zoho.com/dfha-cgx-zxa, by emailing Jacob Shellabarger at jshellabarger@audraincounty.org or by texting 573-473-7579 for more information and a registration link.

Fight the New Drug is a non-religious, non-legislative nonprofit that uses science and real-world research to raise awareness of how pornography can impact the brain, relationships and society.

According to the release, national data shows that a majority of young people are exposed to pornography by early adolescence, often before age 13, making informed, age-appropriate education increasingly critical. Despite the normalization of pornography in today’s digital culture, many remain unaware of its documented impacts on individuals, relationships and society—impacts supported by decades of research from respected institutions.

The webinar, and the previous live presentations, are possible through the support of the
Griffin Family Foundation, Audrain County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Audrain County
Health Department, Audrain County Crisis Intervention Services, and the 12th Circuit Juvenile
Office.
