A fire caused significant damage to a kitchen in a Mexico home Sunday, according to a news release from the Mexico Public Safety Department.
There were no injuries.
MPSD personnel responded to the 300 block of Pleasant Street just before 12:50 p.m. regarding a fire in a home and found the fire in the kitchen. It was contained and extinguished in that area, the release stated, with the kitchen sustaining fire damage and the rest of house having moderate smoke damage.
The release stated a resident said he had a pan of grease on the stove, and he left the room for a few minutes and when he returned he saw the area around the stove on fire.
