A fire Friday caused significant damage to the deck and siding of a house.
There were no injuries reported, and it was determined that a resident was smoking in the area prior to the incident, likely igniting leaves and debris, according to a news release from the Mexico Public Safety Department.
At approximately 7:39 p.m., MPSD responded to a fire in the 1000 block of Buchanan Street. Responding personnel found the back deck of a home burning. The fire was contained and extinguished, but there was significant damage to the deck and siding.
