A Florida man was arrested for two felonies and four misdemeanors Sunday night after multiple crashes while driving intoxicated.

Luis D Soberon-Companioni, 32, of Brandon, Florida, was arrested for three counts of leaving the scene of an accident, driving while intoxicated, and fourth-degree assault. There were no injuries reported, but the crashes caused significant damage to a porch and damage to other vehicles, according to a news release issued by the Mexico Public Safety Department.

At approximately 1:48 a.m., MPSD responded to a report of a 2022 Dodge Ram seen pulling a gooseneck trailer that struck several parked vehicles, driving through yards and striking the porch of a home before leaving the area.

According to the probable cause statement, officers’ investigation determined that the Dodge with a Texas license plate was initially parked facing North in the 1500 block of North Olive Street. A witness reported that Soberon-Companioni was upset and yelling prior to getting into the vehicle. Soberon-Companioni then backed into a 2002 Ford truck that was parked in a driveway, pushing it into the yard.

Soberon-Companioni fled the scene into the dead-end area of the 1600 block of North Olive where he attempted to turn around by driving through a yard, striking a residence causing significant damage to the porch, according to the probable cause statement.

Officers stated that Soberon-Companioni fled that scene driving south on Olive Street where he struck a 2022 Jeep, pushing it into another 2020 Jeep causing damage to both vehicles and Soberon-Companioni fled again.

MPSD initiated a traffic stop at approximately 1:52 a.m. near East Love and Jefferies streets, according to the MPSD release.

According to the probable cause statement, Soberon-Companioni denied any involvement in the crashes, but the officer observed damage to both the Dodge Ram and trailer and detected a strong odor of alcohol on Soberon-Companion’s breath.

Soberon-Companioni was arrested and transported to MPSD for standardized field sobriety tests. A warrant for a blood draw was obtained but, according to the statement, Soberon-Companioni became uncooperative and refused both a blood and breath sample. He also began kicking at officers, striking one in the groin.

Soberon-Companioni is a resident of Florida and based on a refusal to sign paperwork, or submit to fingerprinting, a warrant for his arrest was issued on Sunday and a $25,000 bond was set.
