Friday night in Martinsburg is all about the contests.
The 123rd annual Martinsburg Picnic, hosted by the Martinsburg Area Community Betterment Council, was held Friday and Saturday.
Traditionally, Saturday promises a full day of fun with a wide range of activities for all ages, but Friday is dedicated to a bit of friendly competition amongst the community.
Competition Friday night was fierce and volunteer judges Christina Loyd, Katlyn Cooper and Tracy Landrus had to make some tough decisions.
Cash prizes were awarded to first, second and third place in all categories as well as ribbons for the prettiest baby boys and girls and trophies for the Little Mr. and Miss.
With more than just bragging rights on the line, Martinsburg showed up and showed out despite the heat wave.
