The eccentric and enigmatic confection connoisseur Willy Wonka and the story of his chocolate factory will be brought to life on the Presser Performing Arts Center stage this weekend.
The show follows the classic tale of Willy Wonka, who will be portrayed by Brock Vermillion, and his journey to find the successor to his candy empire by hiding golden tickets in candy bars.
“There’s trials, there’s rewards, there’s good versus bad, all kinds of themes going on,” Rob Dalton, who portrays Grandpa Joe, said.
Director Lennette Brown said there are a lot of children in the play. Appearing in the show will be Vinton Lehnen as Charlie Bucket, Gabreyal Ulrich as Augustus Gloop, Lenox Mahnken as Mike Teavee, Katelyn Lay as Veruca Salt and Hannah Loyd as Violet Beauregarde. There are also candyman kids and plenty of Oompa Loompas who range from six to 14 years old.
“We’ve got some new kids who have never been in a show as Oompa Loompas and they’re having a good time,” Brown said.
Mayson’s Baked Goods will also be in attendance, serving up treats to satisfy that sweet tooth during the show.
The show will have a total of six perfrmances on Dec. 5, 6 and 7, as well as Dec. 12, 13 and 14. Tickets are available online through Purple Pass or at the door before each show.
