A Hannibal man who ran from deputies following a vehicle crash early March 7 was apprehended a few hours later, an Audrain County Sheriff’s Office news release said. Robert Stehman was found, resisted arrest and was apprehended by an Audrain County Sheriff's Office K-9 at 6:40 a.m. He disappeared about three hours earlier.
Around 3:40 a.m., Audrain County Deputies attempted to stop a Chevrolet truck for a registration violation along Highway 54 just south of Laddonia, the release stated. The driver of the truck, later identified as Stehman, refused to stop, and a short pursuit occurred northbound on Highway 54.
The release stated Stehman lost control of his vehicle at the intersection of South Pine Street and East 2nd Street in Laddonia, crashed the vehicle, and then subsequently fled on foot before he was captured. “Numerous” deputies looked for Stehman, the release stated.
