Area greenthumbs found plenty of buying opportunities Saturday. The Mexico Farmers Market enjoyed steady traffic on the square, with Audrain County Crisis Intervention Services (ACCIS) team members Jennifer Wieberg, a board member, and Shannon Owens, ACCIS volunteer coordinator, among those on the market roster. A few blocks away, the Mexico FFA opened its greenhouse doors, hosting their spring plant sale. Some of the sale’s most devoted shoppers lined up an hour early to make sure they got the best plants the chapter had to offer - especially their wide variety of hanging baskets. Here, Brooklyn Salmons and Cameron Beasley arrange some plants during a brief lull in the sales action. The FFA reports they still have plants and will be posting additional sales times on their weekly calendar. Both events had a soggy start, but skies cleared and the crowds came.
