The Salvation Army of Mexico got some help on Tuesday, July 11, from Westlake Ace Hardware in Mexico with the donation of 69 fans. The Help Center of Mexico Executive Director Kim Archer said her agency, an extension unit for the Salvation Army, will begin handing out the fans this week to those in need and will be limited to one fan per household. Archer said residents in need have been calling for about a month asking if there were any fans available.
Westlake was able to provide the fans through a drive where customers were asked if they would like to round-up their purchases at the register. Nationwide $105,000 was donated resulting in 61,000 fans given to the Salvation Army.
Distribution of the fans began on Thursday, July 13, and will continue until the fans run out. Those interested can pick up the fans between the hours of 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on days the center is open.
