Indians net season-high in consolation win vs Salisbury

The Van-Far boys achieved their goal for the week.

After starting the Centralia Invitational with a last-second loss to the host Centralia, the Indians won two games to earn fifth place for the second straight year, defeating Salisbury 80-50 in the consolation final on Saturday. Van-Far (8-1) scored a season-high amount of points, splitting each half with about 40 points. Pacey Reading led with 24 points, eight rebounds and three 3-pointers, Carson Huff had 19 points and five 3-pointers, Gaven Gastion had 13 points and seven assists, and Evan Utterback added nine points for nearly Van-Far's second straight game with four double-digit scorers.

Huff made the all-tournament team, and Jake Peiffer made the team for Salisbury (2-3) after leading the Panthers with 14 points.

Van-Far plays at Eastern Missouri Conference foe North Callaway (2-3) at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
