Van-Far defeated Eastern Missouri Conference and district foe Louisiana 24-0 on Friday at home for Senior Night, resulting in the team's first shutout of the season and first since a 14-0 win Oct. 13 last season.
The Indians had a 16-0 halftime lead after a 56-yard touchdown run by senior Malik Douglas on the first play of the game and following a fumble recovery by Evan Utterback in the end zone seconds before halftime. Senior Reece Culwell (53 yards passing and 46 yards rushing) connected with senior Carson Huff on a three-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter. Ty Evans finished with 41 yards rushing. The Van-Far defense recovered four Louisiana fumbles, and Dalton Hays and Pacey Reading each led with seven tackles.
Van-Far plays at Mark Twain (1-2) next week to defend the Farmers Cup.
