James “Jim” Edward Peck, age 75, of Columbia, MO, formerly of Paris, MO, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2026 at the Westbury Senior Living Center in Columbia, MO.
Jim was born April 9, 1951 in Mexico, MO, the son of Joseph and Mariam "Joy" (Kendrick) Peck. He was united in marriage to Teresa Douglass in 2010 in Independence, MO. She survives.
He is also survived by his three sons, Jason Peck (Jennifer) of Columbia, MO, Ryan Peck (Laura) of Sedalia, MO, and David Peck (Will) of Millersburg, MO; four grandchildren, Garrett, Carter, Josie and Hallie; his sons’ mother, Barbara Peck; sister, Linda Eckman (Danny) of Paris, MO; many nieces, nephews and extended family members; and his loving companion dogs, Murphy and Cody. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Jim’s love of family and farming was nurtured during his childhood in Paris, MO. After building his skills and character as an active member of the Paris Happy Go Lucky 4-H Club, he graduated from Paris High School in 1969 and the University of Missouri College of Agriculture in 1973.
Jim then spent more than four decades doing work he loved: farming with his dad and brother-in-law; raising and judging livestock; and helping others continue to farm as an ag lender. He passed down a love for farming, wildlife, the outdoors and hunting to his children and grandchildren. His passion for his life’s work could be heard in the stories he told for as long as he was able.
Jim’s family would like to recognize the team at Westbury for all their love and care through Jim’s stay. Special thanks to Aalijsha “Lay” Alexander who developed a special bond with Jim and went above and beyond in her care for him.
Funeral service will be held at 10 am, on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at the Agnew Funeral Home in Paris, MO. A visitation will be held from 5 pm to 7 pm on Friday, July 17, 2026 at the funeral home. Burial will be held in the Walnut Grove Cemetery in Paris, MO.
