Lady Bulldogs eliminate Fulton 52-41 to advance to district title game

For the second straight year, the Mexico girls beat archrival Fulton to advance to the championship game.

The Lady Bulldogs play Kirksville (13-12) for the Class 4 District 8 championship at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Mexico Sports Complex after defeating North Central Missouri Conference rival Fulton 52-41 on Thursday in the semifinals in Mexico. Mexico (14-13) began the game by outscoring the Lady Hornets 21-9 in the first quarter and closed the game with a 35-27 rebound advantage to win the season series 2-1. Claire Hudson led with 19 points and eight rebounds, Scottie Smith followed with 10 points, nine rebounds and two blocks, Hannah Loyd had 10 points and Alyssa Miller finished with eight points, six rebounds and three steals. Audrey Arnold led Fulton (10-16) with 15 points, and Alison Skinner had six points.
