Mexico's comeback fell short on Monday night.
The Lady Bulldogs lost 9-8 to Macon (22-13) in the Class 3 District 4 championship game in Macon. It was their first district title game since 2019 and the first time Mexico (19-14) met Macon in districts since 2015. Macon led 9-4 heading into the seventh inning, but then Mexico scored four runs. With two outs and runners on second and third base, Keerstan Ewing hit a liner that was snagged by hopping second baseman Presley Applebury.
Aleigha Henderson went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, Sammie Gipson 2-for-3 with two RBIs, Payton Shaw finished 2-for-3 and Alyssa Miller was 2-for-4.
