Lady Bulldogs lose 2-1 to Blair Oaks, donate money to Kris Fecht Scholarship Fund

The Mexico girls soccer team had a good moment at the end of Thursday night.

The Lady Bulldogs lost 2-1 to Blair Oaks at home in a tight defensive battle that featured 17 combined shots but then released pink balloons to celebrate Pink Out Night. They also donated $750 to the Kris Fecht Scholarship Fund -- a fund whose late namesake battled breast cancer for several years. Marali Herrera scored in the fourth minute to give Mexico (5-9) a lead, Hattie Meldrum tied the game on a breakaway in the 22nd minute and Blair Oaks (6-6-1) took the lead in the 59th minute on Mayson Davis' corner kick.

Mexico (2-4 NCMC) plays at North Central Missouri Conference for Kirksville (7-4, 2-4 NCMC) at 6:30 p.m. Monday. The Lady Bulldogs beat Kirksville 2-1 in double overtime earlier this month in Mexico.
