Lady Bulldogs state run ends in quarterfinals at MICDS, 76-46

The Mexico girls' run through the playoffs ended on Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Bulldogs played in the program's first state quarterfinal game since 1997 at state No. 4 MICDS in St. Louis but lost the Class 4 playoff game 76-46. After trailing 22-17 in the second quarter, MICDS (23-6) left Mexico (16-14) behind after calling a timeout, leading the Lady Bulldogs 37-22 at halftime and 60-37 after the third quarter. MICDS star freshman Jordyn Haywood finished with 37 points, 10 rebounds and eight steals and was followed by Kennedy Newman's 15 points and three 3-pointers. Claire Hudson finished with 17 points, five rebounds and four assists in her final game as a Lady Bulldog, Alyssa Miller followed with 10 points, 10 rebounds and three 3-pointers, and Scottie Smith had seven points.
