Lady Bulldogs take home opener 9-2 over Bowling Green on Wednesday

Mexico softball had been waiting to break through on offense.

The Lady Bulldogs posted season-highs of nine runs on 12 hits in a 9-2 win over Bowling Green (0-2) to win their home opener on Wednesday at Gallop Field in Mexico. Kayleigh Samuelson was 2-for-4 with three RBI (including a RBI triple in the third inning for the game-winning run), Keerstan Ewing had two RBI and also pitched seven innings with one earned run on six hits, Hannah Loyd finished with 3-for-4 with a RBI double, and Maddy Feger had two doubles and two runs scored.

Mexico (2-5) plays in the Battle Round Robin on Saturday in Columbia. Its first game is at 11:45 a.m. Saturday against Marion C. Early (1-5).
