Posted

The Mexico girls came away with key victories on Thursday night.

In the program's first ever girls-only home quad, according to head coach Tony Senor, the Lady Bulldogs defeated some girls who are in their district of Class 1 District 2. The dual scores were 48-24 Brookfield, 78-6 North Point and 52-18 Holt against a less than full strength Mexico team of six girls, but the Lady Bulldogs won some matches in the duals against district opponents Brookfield and Holt. Alexus Johns won her two 235-pound matches against Brookfield's Aubrey Wilson and Holt's Isabella Winingear, the girl she defeated in the state semifinals last season. Abby Bowen went 1-1, pinned Brookfield's Kaecen Brown at 135 pounds. Jazzmin Torres went 1-1, pinning Holt's Sophia Sexton at 170 pounds.
