Community R-6 and Paris girls basketball each regularly allow less than 40 points.
Only one could do that Friday night as the Lady Coyotes won their Courtwarming game in Paris over the Lady Trojans 44-35. Community (12-4) could only score 12 points in the second and third quarters after leading Paris 12-6 after one quarter. Reese Sutton led Paris (12-6) with 14 points and eight rebounds, Alyssa Webb had 10 points and six rebounds and was named Courtwarming Queen after the game, and Melanie Moore finished with eight points and four steals. Peyton Beamer led Community with 12 points and six rebounds, Aaliyah Welch and Jocelyn Curtis each had nine points, and Chloe Johnson had a team-high seven rebounds.
Community and Paris play each other again in the first round of the Sturgeon Tournament at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
