The Centralia girls won the state tournament rematch on Monday.
The Lady Panthers opened a new season at home against California with a 58-45 win after defeating the Lady Pintos 56-48 in the state tournament last season. This time, Centralia allowed 20 combined points in the second and third quarters after a 16-point defensive first quarter. Returning all-state players Ryenn Gordon and Braylin Brunkhorst finished with 24 points and 17 points, repectively, while all-state player Kierstyn Lawson had nine points and four steals to follow Hailey Rademan's 12 points and six rebounds. Gordon also had 12 rebounds, five assists and three steals while Brunkhorst had seven rebounds and three steals. Ealynne Bostick added three steals and Brooklyn Hardin had three blocks.
After the holiday break, Centralia hosts North Callaway (1-0) at 6 p.m. Dec. 3.
