Community R-6 was with Central Activities Conference rival Cairo for four innings on Monday at home.
After Lydia Hoyt tied the game at 2 on two-RBI double in the fourth inning, Cairo (7-1, 1-1 CAC) added more runs via errors, primarily on bunt plays, to hand Community a 5-2 loss. The Lady Trojans (8-3, 2-1 CAC) finished with seven errors and five unearned runs allowed. Jocelyn Curtis allowed four hits in seven innings, and Cairo's Olivia Cross allowed six hits and struck out eight in seven innings. Amy McCurdy went 2-for-4 to extend her hitting streak to 12 games and her multi-hit streak to six games, and Rylee Rafferty was 2-for-3.
Community plays at conference foe Slater (3-4, 1-2 CAC) at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
