Lady Trojans late comeback falls short vs Monroe City

Posted

A slow start caught up to Community R-6 softball on Tuesday night at home as the Class 1 No. 9 Lady Trojans lost 7-6 to Class 2 Monroe City 7-6. The Lady Panthers (12-4) took a 7-0 lead thanks partially to three unearned runs allowed by Community (19-5) but also the pitching by Lucy Pratt through four innings -- six strikeouts, three hits, one run and one walk. The Lady Trojans showed up on the scoreboard starting in the fourth inning and then made a four-run comeback in the seventh inning that just wasn't enough. Rylee Rafferty (2 RBI) and Paige Painter (3 RBI) each picked up two-RBI singles and finished 2-for-4 while the third hitter in Community's top three in the order, Brooklynn Glasgow, finished 2-for-3 with a RBI and a walk.
