Many Trojans were under the weather on Tuesday night.

A flu outbreak in the Community R-6 basketball programs didn't stop the teams from celebrating Senior Night against Central Activities Conference foe Sturgeon in Laddonia. The Lady Trojans defeated Sturgeon 52-46 and the Trojans lost to the Bulldogs 66-26.

Senior Aaliyah Welch finished with a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Lady Trojans (15-8, 6-2 CAC) and went 8-13 at the free-throw line. Peyton Beamer followed with 19 points, six assists and two 3-pointers, senior Rylee Rafferty finished with six points, and senior Amy McCurdy snagged three rebounds on a roster not at full strength, including starter Jocelyn Curtis being out because of flu. Allie Heath led Sturgeon (8-13, 2-4 CAC) with 13 points and three 3-pointers, and Brooke Smith had 11 points and seven rebounds.

Layton Wright led the Trojans (3-18, 2-6 CAC) with nine points and three 3-pointers in his first career varsity start in place for the sick KaTavyn Wheeler, Rett Curtis and senior Clayton Jennings each had eight points and seven rebounds on a boys roster only seven deep due to flu. Head coach Kody Asquith was also out because of flu. Connor Lawson led Sturgeon (10-11, 4-3 CAC) with 23 points and five 3-pointers, Alex Ducayne followed with 15 points and Josh Kelly had 12 points.
