The North Callaway girls gained some separation from Van-Far on Monday night.
The Ladybirds defeated Eastern Missouri Conference foe Van-Far at home 55-46 after recording 17 steals. North Callaway (3-4, 1-1 EMO) had 11 turnovers in the first half, which was back-and-forth and tied at 28 until the Ladybirds went on a 12-0 run from the end of the second quarter to third quarter. After giving the Lady Indians (2-4, 0-1 EMO) a 22-18 with a 3-pointer, Elliott Utterback stopped the run with one of her three 3-pointers as she led Van-Far with 21 points. Natalie Shryock led North Callaway with 18 points and had six rebounds and three steals. Sophie Olsson had 12 points and three steals off the Ladybird bench, and Lakyn Hartley had seven points and five rebounds. Mylee Keller scored seven points for Van-Far, and Chloe Zumwalt finished with six points and 10 rebounds.
North Callaway hosts conference for Louisiana (1-3) at 7:15 p.m. Thursday while Van-Far plays Brown County (from Sterling, IL) at 6 p.m. in the John Wood Community College Rumble on the River in Quincy on Wednesday.
