Posted

The Class 2 No. 7 North Callaway Ladybirds stayed undefeated at home on Tuesday.

In only their fifth home game this season, North Callaway beat Eastern Missouri Conference and Class 2 District 2 foe Louisiana 2-0 after the Ladybirds (15-7, 6-1 EMO) and Louisiana (9-7, 3-5 EMO) combined for four hits. Megan Schmidt tied her career-high 16 strikeouts, four walks and one hit (her fifth outing of one or less hits but second seven-inning one) in seven innings. Liv Knoepflein's double in the fourth inning scored the only runs of the game, giving her a RBI and allowing her to score on the same play because of an error. It was the second time in two nights that Knoepflein circled the bases on one play after hitting an inside-the-park home run in North Callaway's 14-3 five-inning win over Fulton on Monday at home.

North Callaway plays at Fatima (8-11) at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
