LaVrenia Elvira Worley, 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on April 28, 2025, at 1:30 p.m., EST, at UPMC Pittsburgh, PA. Born on Dec. 28, 1945, to Wyce and Iola Surgeon in Lebanon, Oregon, LaVrenia was the youngest of five children. She lived a rich life filled with love, family, and cherished memories. LaVrenia was preceded in death by her parents, Wyce and Iola Surgeon; siblings, Lynn, John, and Tommy Lee Surgeon; her beloved husband of 43 years, Kenneth J. Worley Jr.; and her grandson, David A. Vickers Jr. She is survived by her sister, Alna Hatcher; and brother, Roger Surgeon, both of Oregon; her daughters, Lynette (Rick) McCartney of Mills, Wyoming, and Ginger Worley of Trafford, PA; her grandchildren, Scott McCartney and Jessica McCartney of Wyoming, and Abigail (Blake) McClelland and Kali (Dave) Pollino of Pittsburgh, PA; and her great-grandchildren, Bailey, Carson, and Cooper McCartney of Wyoming, Kindahlynn Byrd of Wyoming, and Devin and Dominic Pollino of Pittsburgh, PA.
LaVrenia and Ken raised their family in Hanna, Wyoming enjoying hunting, fishing and camping in the Medicine Bow National Forest. She loved animals, especially horses, and rode with family well into her late ‘60s. She and Ken loved to dance, and music was always filling the house. LaVrenia was easy to be around, because she would listen to you, laugh with you, and was an uplifting person.
LaVrenia’s ashes will be laid to rest alongside her husband on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at 10a.m. at Hugo Cemetery in New Florence, MO. A luncheon will follow at New Florence Community Center at noon. LaVrenia's warmth and spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
