No injuries occurred after local fire personnel responded to a grass fire Wednesday near Route JJ near the Mexico city limits.
Just after 3:50 p.m., Little Dixie Fire Protection District and the Mexico Public Safety Department responded to Route JJ near the city limits of Mexico regarding a grass fire, according to a MPSD news release. Responding personnel found small fires on both sides of the roadway, and the fires were quickly extinguished and there was no damage to any personal property.
The release stated a caller reported seeing a vehicle with mechanical issues in the area just before the fires started.
“The vehicle was apparently making sparks as it traveled down the roadway,” the release stated.
Route JJ was closed for approximately 10 minutes.
