Martin "Marty" Ray Hamilton

On August 15, 2025, Martin "Marty" Ray Hamilton, formerly of Mexico, passed away at the age of 68, after an extended illness at home in Duluth, Georgia.

Marty was born January 24, 1957, at the Army hospital in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, to Bobby Ray and Norma Louise Hamilton. In 1996, he married Patricia Tobin in Jacksonville, Illinois, who survives at home in Duluth.

He is also survived by 2 brothers of Mexico; Gregg Alan Hamilton and Christopher Todd Hamilton; sister Mrs. David (Jamie Lea) Meine, Lawrence, Kansas and brother-in-law Ronald Landreth of Mexico. He is survived by 9 nieces and nephews, and 7 great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, father and sister, Jill Megan Landreth. Marty retired in 2020 but his most recent employment was with ABM Industries, as a project manager in the field of commercial, eco-friendly LED replacement lighting. He was extremely passionate about his work in this field. This is the industry where he spent most of his adult life. He wore different hats and held varying executive, project management, project development and product development positions. He enjoyed his many international travels, educating the world about LED lighting. Marty attended Mexico Public Schools; 1975 class member. He excelled at Boy Scouts and anything social. He played Khourey little league baseball with brother Gregg and coach Bob Hamilton up through American Legion years. He moved to the Atlanta, Georgia area in his early twenties, were he resided until his passing. Marty was an avid golfer, fisherman, storyteller and natural entertainer. Marty was an excellent boat captain. He became a self taught drummer at a young age and savored playing with several bands in his teens and twenties. Marty's energy was unmatched. He seemingly could walk into any room, changing the vibe to one of laughter and wit, instantly becoming the life of the party. If he was your friend, he was a friend for life. As per Marty’s wishes, his ashes have been cremated and will be scattered privately at a later date. A Celebration of Life was held in Mexico, Missouri on September 20, 2025, under a full rainbow.
