The low growl of diesel trucks and rumbling of sports cars shook the streets of Martinsburg all the way to the highway Friday night.
Martinsburg’s annual Car Show and Cruise had over 140 cars participating this year – and that’s only the cars that actually registered. Judges began making their rounds early in the evening so they would have plenty of time before the iconic burnout at 7 p.m.
This year’s event was organized primarily by Larry and Aggie Diemeke with Martinsburg Area Community Betterment. Food was a big deal this year as it hadn’t been a part of the car show for a few years.
“I don’t understand why so many people come to Martinsburg but they do,” said Larry.
Whether it’s the loud cars, the lively music, barbeque courtesy of Missouri Pork Producers or the generous pours by the American Legion, something keeps drawing a crowd to Martinsburg every year.
