Lyle Marty fought for first in the Missouri Golf Stan Utley Tour a week ago.
The Centralia junior tied for third in the 16-18 boys division at Meadow Lake Acres Country Club in New Bloomfield on July 20. Marty shot a 40, or four-over par, to tie him with St. James’ Daxton Weinbaum and Jefferson City’s Julius Resner in a tournament called after nine holes due to extreme heat.
Marty finished two strokes behind winner Grant Chojnacki, of Jefferson City, and was one stroke behind Columbia’s Robert Keller. He bogeyed three holes but finished with a par on the rest.
