Mary Lee Huss Beckett, 73, of Hixson, Tenn. passed away at her home on Jan. 3, 2021 after a long and courageous battle with cancer, in the loving care of her sister Connie and brother-in-law, Ray Speck.

Mary was born on July 22, 1947, the daughter of William Huss and Martha Downing. On Sept. 27, 1965 she married Ted Beckett and they celebrated their 40-year wedding anniversary before his death on Oct. 3, 2005. She graduated from Mexico Senior High School in 1966.

She was employed at Jim Walters Paper Company for 28 years, starting in Atlanta and then moving to Chattanooga where she was a manager. In 1993 she left the paper company and was self-employed as a seamstress and did alterations out of her home until 2017.

Mary had a smile that "lit up the room" and love for her family and friends. Many friends became extended family. Mary and Ted loved to travel, having taken many motorcycle trips with their BMW club members and Ted's parents, and traveled to visit family across the U.S. She was also known as Mary's Taxi.

In addition to her husband, Ted, Mary was preceded in death by her parents, William and Martha; and in-laws, Don and Mary Beckett.

Due to COVID-19, there will be no service. There will be a celebration of Mary's life in the spring.
