Name: Ed Lewis
Age: 61
Hometown: Moberly
Occupation: Former High School Chemistry Teacher/ Current State Representative
Position sought: State Senator – District 18
Previous political experience: I have been a State Representative since 2021
Why are you running and why should people vote for you?
I want to continue to work for the citizens of Northeast Missouri as their State Senator. I am a strong advocate for our children and education in Missouri. I have worked hard to pass important legislation for our State such as the No Patient Left Alone Act in 2022 and the Anti-Trafficking Legislation of 2026. I have also worked to increase pay for teachers with the Baseline Teacher Salary Grant moving each beginning teacher to $40,000. You can only get important legislation done if you can work well with other legislators and have their trust and respect. I have done that at the Capitol and will be able to continue to do that in the Senate.
What are your goals if elected?
I want to continue to work to put regulations in place to protect our rural land from being covered with solar panels and wind turbines. We must enact legislation to put regulations in place to protect landowners from the devaluing of their land when adjacent land is leased or sold for industrial solar applications.
What issues are most pressing for your constituency?
I believe that having the best educational opportunities for each student is a pressing issue for most parents. They want great schools, with well educated and caring teachers and a school that is helping their students to learn and grow.
