The halls of McMillan Early Learning Center were fit for the north pole, decked with students’ art and holiday cheer.
Friday marked MELC’s third year hosting “Meet me at the North Pole,” a special holiday-themed event for students and their families.
Upon arrival, children were greeted with an activity card that outlined all of the special activities that included photo opportunities with Santa and Mrs. Claus.
In the library, students were encouraged to write a letter to Santa and pick up a certificate for a free book. On their way out, they could drop their letters in the special mailbox and take a picture in the photo hall. In the gym, there was an ornament making station and sensory crafts as well.
New this year was the addition of hot cocoa and popcorn in the cafeteria where students could also get a cookie for completing their activity sheet.
Meet me at the North Pole is special in so many ways, Principal Anne Billington said, particularly because all the garland and the reindeer stables were made from the students’ art in Margaret Frazier’s art class.
“We are very proud of our school community,” Billington said. “We have a very close-knit group of staff members and I think people feel the love when they walk in.”
