A Mexico man was arrested March 11 after he fled from police from his crashed vehicle March 10, according to an Audrain County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Joshua William Julius, 37, is being held on multiple charges.

Just after 9:40 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the 2000 block of Missouri Route ZZ on a report of a suspicious vehicle. While responding to the area, deputies found a vehicle matching the description of the reported suspicious vehicle along Missouri Route J and attempted to conduct a vehicle stop, the release stated.

Julius did not yield to the deputy’s emergency lights and audible siren, and then he began fleeing at a high rate of speed and turned off his headlights, the release stated. Near Missouri Route J and Missouri Route MM, he allegedly crashed his vehicle and fled on foot. A search of the area was completed, but Julius was not found.

But during the early morning hours of March 11, Audrain County Joint Communications began receiving reports of a suspicious person walking along Missouri Route KK. Deputies responded to the area and found Julius, who was arrested for the above incident and was transported to the Audrain County Jail on the following charges:

  • Aggravated fleeing a stop or detention
  • Resisting/interfering with arrest for a felony
  • Driving while suspended/revoked
  • Operating a motor vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner–resulting in accident
  • Failure to register motor vehicle with director of revenue
  • Displaying or possessing the license plate of another

The release stated Julius is being held awaiting the formal filing of charges by the Audrain County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
