Dear readers and community members,
The Mexico Ledger would like to inform our readers and community partners of a change to our office hours.
Beginning this week, the Mexico Ledger office will be open to the public on Mondays from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. From Tuesday through Friday, the office will be open by appointment only.
This change is being made as part of an effort to reduce operational costs while also responding to a noticeable decrease in walk-in traffic. During the Tuesday–Friday period, phone calls to the Mexico Ledger office will be forwarded to the Montgomery Standard office in Montgomery City to ensure that readers and customers can still reach our staff. Payments or other items may be slipped under the office door if needed.
Publisher/Owner Tim Schmidt said the decision reflects the realities facing many local newspapers today.
“This move is necessary due to rising costs, but it also allows our staff greater flexibility,” he said. “Our team won’t be tied to their desks and can continue getting out into the community for assignments and meetings, which ultimately strengthens our coverage. Though we know change can be hard, we remain committed to publishing the best newspaper possible every week.”
