A Mexico man was arrested for arson Wednesday, according to a news release from the Mexico Public Safety Department.
Kent D. Erwin, 60, of Mexico was arrested Wednesday at approximately 3:17 p.m. in the 600 block of Seminary on a warrant for second-degree arson.
The charges stem from a fire that occurred Sept. 27 at approximately 9:51 p.m. in the 700 block of Union Street. The fire was extinguished and no injuries were reported, but the residence and its contents suffered significant fire damage. A neighboring house also suffered heat damage.
MPSD investigated the fire and forwarded a criminal case to the Audrain County Prosecuting Attorney.
Erwin was taken to the Audrain County Jail without incident.
