Mexico swept through Saturday to finish among the best of the weekend.

At the Peoples Bank Back to School Classic in Sullivan, the Lady Bulldogs beat Sullivan 7-6 and lost 12-0 to Chaffee on Friday before winning all three games on Saturday 5-3 against Capital City, 7-3 against Blair Oaks and 11 against Washington.

Mexico walked off Sullivan on a two-RBI home run by Payton Sells, who went 3-for-4, before being shut out by Chaffee. The Lady Devils have won three straight district championships but finished the weekend with a similar 4-1 record.

The Lady Bulldogs had another comeback win against Capital City with RBIs by Isabelle Friedrich and Alyssa Miller, who had two RBIs, in the sixth inning, and Keerstan Ewing pitched 6⅓ innings with two earned runs allowed on 11 hits and three strikeouts. Mexico scored all of their runs against Blair Oaks in the first two innings with Kaitlyn Krietemeyer finishing 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a double and four innings pitched with two unearned runs on four hits. Washington’s perfect weekend was spoiled by Mexico after the Lady Bulldogs scored four runs in the fourth inning with Claire Valenzuela having four RBIs and a home run and Ewing going 2-for-2 with three RBIs.

Mexico plays in the Battle Round Robin on Friday and Saturday.
